Zenas’ earlier stage programs include a preclinical IL-17A/AF inhibitor and a preclinical brain-penetrant TYK2 inhibitor.

Position Summary Key Responsibilities Business partner to various organizations within R&D
Manage aspects of the monthly accounting close to ensure accurate and timely completion of close activities with focus on R&D-related accounting areas including expenses, prepayments, deposits, and accruals
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations with related supporting workpapers for assigned areas
Ensure the quality of work product is compliant with SOX requirements
Review and analyze invoices, read contracts, and reconcile data to POs, budgets, and work orders to determine appropriate accounting treatments
Review CRO & CDMO budget trackers and ensure appropriate accounting estimates in expense trackers
Prepare fluctuation analysis by segments (e.g., subsidiaries, programs, phases, etc.) and R&D-related general ledger account fluctuation analysis
Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and other R&D analyses requested by management
Coordinate with finance and accounting team members in identifying, researching, and documenting significant accounting matters and disclosure items
Assist with quarterly reviews, interim and year-end audit, and tax requirements as it relates to associated activities; drive closure of any open items on a timely basis
Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and procedures for both general and R&D-related accounting areas
Ad hoc tasks and other special projects as assigned
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting required with a minimum 5 years of experience
Biotech/Life Sciences experience preferred
CPA or candidate seeking CPA certification preferred
Broad knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
Internal controls (SOX) experience
Strong systems skills; experience with top tier accounting/ERP systems; proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the business
