About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP of Preclinical Research and Development to lead the strategic and scientific aspects of preclinical R&D for its innovative therapeutic pipeline. The successful candidate will be a key member of the R&D leadership team, responsible for defining and executing the preclinical strategy that advances the company's drug candidates from early discovery through IND and NDA-enabling studies. This role requires a deep expertise in drug discovery, efficacy models, pharmacology, toxicology, biomarkers, and translational science, as well as a proven ability to build and lead high-performing scientific teams in a fast-paced biotech environment. The VP will also be involved in regulatory support, program oversight, and team leadership, and will be expected to ensure that all preclinical activities meet scientific, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Applicants for the VP of Preclinical Research and Development position at the company should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and have at least 15 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on preclinical drug development. The role demands a strong understanding of regulatory expectations for nonclinical development, experience in managing teams and external partners, and excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills. The ideal candidate will have a track record of advancing therapeutics from discovery through IND and into early clinical development, as well as experience in translational science and biomarker development. A background in extended-release products, sterile parenteral products, or related areas is preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to think strategically and advance options to optimize drug development. The role is suited to a self-starter who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
