Role Summary
The Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller, is a key strategic leader responsible for overseeing all financial reporting and SEC compliance, ensuring that financial statements adhere to US GAAP standards. This role involves managing internal controls and risk management, including SOX compliance, while fostering strong relationships with external auditors and internal stakeholders. In addition to directing all accounting functions, the VP of Finance, Corporate Controller, ensures streamlined financial processes for consistent accuracy and efficiency. Collaborating closely with the CFO, this position supports annual budgeting and long-range financial planning. A strong communicator and mentor, this leader drives a culture of transparency and ethical financial practices while providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, overseeing the comprehensive preparation, review, and timely filing of essential SEC documents, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy, and 8-Ks, while ensuring compliance with regulatory deadlines and accuracy in financial disclosures. Ensure all financial statements are prepared in accordance with US GAAP by supervising the preparation process and providing guidance to the accounting team to maintain high levels of accuracy and compliance. Coordinate with legal counsel and the investor relations team on earnings releases and the annual report by collaborating closely with these teams to prepare clear and compelling communications that align with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust internal control environment by directing the establishment and ongoing assessment of internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX 404, effectively mitigating risks and safeguarding company assets. Manage the relationship with external and internal auditors by facilitating effective communication and collaboration to ensure efficient quarterly reviews and annual audits, addressing any concerns promptly and thoroughly. Identify and mitigate financial risks across the organization by proactively assessing these risks and developing strategies to ensure the organizations financial stability and integrity. Direct all accounting functions by overseeing all activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger management, revenue recognition, and equity accounting, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Streamline the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes by implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy, reducing cycle times and increasing reliability in financial reporting. Manage tax compliance across various jurisdictions by ensuring adherence to tax regulations, overseeing the preparation and filing of tax returns, and coordinating with tax advisors as needed. Partner with the CFO to lead the annual budgeting process and long-range financial planning by collaborating to develop and execute plans that align financial goals with the companys strategic objectives. Provide department heads with actionable variance analysis and KPI tracking by delivering insightful analyses that enable informed decision-making and optimize resource allocation. Support M&A activity by assisting in merger and acquisition initiatives through thorough due diligence, evaluating financial implications, and facilitating post-acquisition integration to ensure a smooth transition and alignment with financial goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA required. 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 8+ years in a leadership role overseeing the work of others. High proficiency in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and ERP systems. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Effective time management, written, and verbal communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
