Overview At Capital One, the Back End Software Engineering team is driving a major transformation in Card Technology. The Lead Software Engineer will spearhead the design and delivery of resilient, cloud-native microservices that support financial services for millions of Americans.
Responsibilities
Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with experience in distributed microservices and full‑stack systems to create solutions that meet regulatory needs
Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, mentor engineering peers, and occasionally write or evaluate code
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that drive powerful experiences for customers
Utilize programming languages and technologies including Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, Scala, open source RDBMS/NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree
At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply)
At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
1+ year of people management experience
2+ years of experience in Agile practices
Salary and Location McLean, VA: $193,400 – $220,700 for Lead Software Engineer
