Job Summary
Patient Experience Manager (RD)
provides individualized nutrition assessments, counseling, and follow‑up care for adult and adolescent patients with psychiatric and substance‑use disorders, with a particular focus on eating disorders. The role supports a fast‑paced behavioral health setting at Silver Hill Hospital, New Canaan, CT.
Location & Schedule Silver Hill Hospital – Unidine, New Canaan, CT
Setting: Acute Inpatient & Residential Levels of Care
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Salary & Compensation $75,000–$85,000 per year
Key Responsibilities
Assess nutrition needs and provide counseling for patients with psychiatric and substance‑use disorders, especially eating disorders.
Develop individualized meal plans in collaboration with clinical teams, using a non‑diet, HAES‑informed approach.
Facilitate a weekly nutrition education group to promote normalized eating, food flexibility, and sustainability.
Act as liaison between Compass Group dietary services and Silver Hill clinical staff to ensure high‑quality food service aligned with therapeutic goals.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and therapists to support interdisciplinary treatment planning.
Support policy development and maintenance related to food service operations, therapeutic diets and nutrition standards of care.
Assist with menu review and patient‑specific dietary accommodations, including allergies, religious restrictions, and eating‑disorder protocols.
Adjust interventions to meet developmental and clinical needs of adolescent and adult patients in both acute and residential settings.
Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and staff to ensure seamless coordination of nutrition services.
Qualifications
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required.
Connecticut state license (CDN) required or eligible for application.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical nutrition experience, preferably in behavioral health or eating‑disorder settings.
Strong understanding of intuitive eating, HAES, and trauma‑informed care.
Experience with eating‑disorder nutrition care, including meal planning and exposure‑based work.
Experience leading nutrition education groups strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, time‑management, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Comfortable navigating EMR systems, policy documents, and coordination between multiple teams.
