Position Responsibilities
The Authorities and Compliance Subject Matter Expert provides guidance and oversight to ensure IC operations, systems, and workflows comply with applicable authorities, legal policies, and oversight requirements. This role supports a high priority intelligence program by translating complex legal and policy requirements into actionable operational and technical guidance. Experience and training in operational targeting tradecraft is highly desirable. Lead compliance and authorities activities in support of classified IC programs. Serve as the primary advisor on intelligence collection authorities, legal policy, and compliance requirements. Interpret and apply applicable laws, policies, and oversight guidance to IC workflows, systems, and processes. Translate complex legal and policy requirements into clear technical and operational requirements for system development.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Bachelor's Degree or high school diploma with additional 4 years of equivalent work experience. Ten (10) years of combined experience in compliance, authorities and legal policy. Five (5) years familiarity with the targeting ecosystem. Demonstrated experience consulting on design of IC workflows, systems, policy, process, and technical design required to enforce compliance, legal policy and intelligence collection authorities. Demonstrated experience converting complex policy and legal requirements into technical requirements for IT system development efforts and verifying and validating that the technical implementation meets needs. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills. An active TS/SCI with polygraph.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Knowledge and experience in operational targeting tradecraft. Experience with successful execution of process development. Ten (10) years’ experience working in the IC.
SALARY RANGE
$160,000 to $190,000. The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.

ITAR Requirement
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements.
