About Boston Impact Initiative (BII)
Boston Impact Initiative (BII) is a nonprofit impact investment fund and certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that invests in people and places building community ownership, shared wealth, and economic power, particularly in communities of color. We provide entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and community-owned enterprises with fair and flexible capital, culturally relevant training, and trusted networks, advancing inclusive local economies and building lasting community wealth. Our vision is a future where every community has the resources and power to create shared prosperity. We manage two integrated capital funds that have collectively invested $18M in 85+ small businesses and community-governed real estate projects in Massachusetts and New England. BII also offers impact investing education and training. Through our Advancing Regenerative Capital (ARC) Fellowship, we have trained 90 fund managers from 38 organizations to launch community-based impact funds focused on economic justice. To date, 22 funds have launched that have deployed over $15M to diverse small businesses across the U.S. Marketing and Communications Coordinator Overview
As part of the Marketing and Communications team, you will be part of executing BII’s communication strategy. This position reports to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager and Impact Director to create compelling stories, posts, content, photography, graphic design and videos for social media, newsletters, and website updates. The Coordinator will assist in drafting communications, managing content calendars, and supporting overall marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and engagement. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in impact investing communications, impact storytelling, and nonprofit marketing. You'll work closely with a collaborative team of 15 staff members passionate about building economic equity. Success in this role includes maintaining consistent content schedules, growing website and social media engagement, and ensuring organized marketing systems. Responsibilities
Content Creation: Support the development of marketing materials and campaigns from concept through execution Create and edit photos and short‑form video content for social media and website using CapCut or similar tools Assist in creating and scheduling content for social media platforms Assist with email marketing campaigns and newsletters on Constant Contact Collaboration & Strategic Work: Collaborate with the marketing team on various projects, including event marketing/materials, program recruitment, investment announcements, and storytelling (written and video) Collaborate with the web developer to add/change website content Monitor social media engagement and performance metrics Administrative & Organizational: Maintain updated contact databases and lists in Constant Contact and Creatio CRM Organize and maintain digital marketing assets, contact databases, and shared Google Drive resources to ensure accuracy and accessibility Team Participation: Attend and contribute to brainstorming sessions and weekly team meetings Required Qualifications
1‑2 years of graphic design experience Proficient with graphic design and photo/video editing tools: Canva, Photoshop, CapCut Comfortable using social media platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook Familiarity with social media best practices and content marketing strategies Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to learn and use Monday project management software Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Creative thinker with attention to detail Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner Passion for social impact and commitment to BII's mission Preferred Qualifications
Portfolio demonstrating digital graphic design (social media, presentation decks, print, etc.) Photo/video editing experience, particularly for social media platforms Experience with event and fundraising marketing General understanding of investment principles, impact investing, small business, social entrepreneurship, etc., or an interest in learning more about these topics SCHEDULE AND TECHNOLOGY
This is a part‑time, hourly position (20 hours per week) based in Boston, MA. The role is hybrid with the expectation of occasional travel to the Boston office 1‑2 times per month, and support with occasional events and conferences that may be outside normal working hours. Weekly schedule to be determined between the employee and Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, with flexibility to accommodate the employee's availability within standard business hours (9am‑5pm), plus occasional events.
