Position Summary AWS Cloud Engineer 3 at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is responsible for design, planning, management, optimization, maintenance, and support of AWS cloud computing solutions. The role ensures secure, compliant, reliable, and cost‑effective AWS environments to support critical business needs. Strong communication and relationship building are required to execute effectively.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Define, document and implement BMC policies for cloud-based systems (Landing Zone, Control Tower, IAM, Config, SCP).

Document changes and workflow in an Agile environment (Jira, Confluence, Jira SM).

Communicate with IT and non‑IT professionals to ensure effective use of all cloud services.

Review AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, Trusted Advisor and other tools to optimize resource usage and cost.

Learn new technologies quickly and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

Drive and assist in the implementation of services to standardize the cloud environment.

Assess on‑premises workloads and profile requirements needed to support in AWS.

JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.

EXPERIENCE

5‑7 years related work experience as an IT Systems Engineer with at least 3‑4 years working exclusively on AWS.

Minimum 3 years of experience with AWS Cloud Services (S3, EC2, RDS, VPC, KMS, SNS, etc.).

AWS Certifications: Cloud Practitioner plus Associate or Professional level Architect a plus.

Healthcare domain knowledge and experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2) is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Experience with monitoring systems such as CloudWatch, DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.

Experience with logging and log monitoring (CloudWatch, CloudTrail) for performance, security, and compliance.

Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, JSON, YAML, Bash).

Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.

Understanding of CI/CD on AWS platform.

Expert knowledge of AWS network and security features (VPC, Security Groups, NACLs, ALB/NLB, Transit Gateway).

Experience building serverless architecture (Lambda) on AWS platform.

Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM), SSO Integration.

Strong understanding of high‑availability solutioning (multi‑AZ/regions, backup, snapshotting).

Demonstrated history of moving mission‑critical applications from the datacenter to AWS.

Decision making, problem solving, customer service, communication, judgment, and organizational skills.

Compensation Range $66,500.00–$96,500.00
