Overview Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC seeking a

Senior Accounting Specialist

to join a small, collaborative team in a fully onsite capacity. This role offers broad exposure across accounting, budgeting, and program support, along with the opportunity to take ownership of workstreams and contribute to special projects across multiple teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail‑oriented, and thrives in a hands‑on, team‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

Support core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activities, with a focus on reviewing obligations and deobligations rather than payment execution.

Assist with budget tracking, monitoring, and reporting to support program and operational needs.

Maintain accurate financial records and perform reconciliations to ensure data integrity and compliance.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with program, finance, and administrative teams to support accounting and budget initiatives.

Prepare financial schedules, reports, and analyses for internal stakeholders.

Support federal accounting and budget requirements, including compliance with applicable

OMB guidance .

Take ownership of assigned processes and manage special projects, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Assist with audit preparation and maintain organized documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Working knowledge of AP, AR, billing, and budget processes.

Federal accounting or budgeting experience, including familiarity with

OMB requirements , strongly preferred.

Program or project‑based accounting experience preferred.

Strong initiative, accountability, and ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, team‑oriented mindset.
