Opportunity EY is seeking a Data Architecture Manager with a strong understanding of data and technology within the Life Sciences (Clinical (R&D) and Commercial) sector, complemented by a solid track record of delivery. As a Manager in Data Architecture, you will lead transformative technology projects and programs that align with our organizational strategy to achieve impactful outcomes. You will provide assurance to leadership by managing timelines, costs, and quality, and lead both technical and non‑technical project teams in the development and implementation of cutting‑edge technology solutions and infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities Your team will design and build scalable solutions for life sciences clients that unify, enrich, and derive insights from varied data sources across a broad technology landscape. You will help our clients navigate the complex world of modern data science, analytics, and software engineering, providing guidance and performing technical development tasks to ensure data‑science solutions are properly engineered and maintained to support ongoing business needs. In this pivotal role, you will manage and deliver one or more processes, solutions, and projects, focus on quality and risk management, drive continuous process improvement, and recommend innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.
Skills And Attributes For Success
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Business Leads, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and IT teams) to define data requirements, design solutions, and implement data strategies that align with our clients’ objectives.
Organize and lead workshops and design sessions with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and cross‑functional partners, to capture requirements and align on data architecture strategies and projects.
Design and build solutions on AWS, Databricks, Snowflake.
Design conceptual, logical, physical layers of a data solution.
Conduct data design reviews, striving for improved usability and efficiency.
Design blueprints for data extraction and basic transformations.
Participate in presentations and proposals for highly complex projects.
Technical skills: integration with third‑party SaaS applications, cloud computing architecture, data‑architecture design, and platform modernization.
Implement data‑integration best practices and develop standardized practices for new products and capabilities using big‑data technologies.
Interact with senior client technology leaders to understand business goals and deliver technology solutions.
Define and develop client‑specific best practices around data management within a Hadoop or cloud environment.
Recommend design alternatives for data ingestion, processing, and provisioning layers.
Experience in enterprise‑grade solution implementations, BI, and data‑analytics databases.
Translate business problems into technical solutions considering security, performance, and scalability.
Knowledge of big‑data architecture patterns (Lambda, Kappa) and performance benchmarking.
Experience in data security (at rest and in motion).
To qualify for the role you must have
Bachelor’s degree and 10‑15 years of full‑time working experience in Data Architecture/Engineering.
2‑4 years of experience directly managing technical teams.
At least 2 years working in the life sciences domains (Clinical (R&D) and Commercial).
Flexible, proactive, and self‑motivated working style with strong ownership of problem resolution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi‑task under pressure and work independently with minimal supervision.
Team player who enjoys cooperative and collaborative environments.
Adaptable to new technologies and standards.
Participate in all aspects of AI and Data solution delivery lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, production deployment, and support.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Building and managing relationships.
Client trust and value, and commercial astuteness.
Communicating with impact and digital fluency.
Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.
Leading and influencing teams, with a focus on mentorship and professional development.
