Sr. Regulatory Compliance Engineer, Grid Join Tesla as a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer to support the global deployment of grid-interactive energy storage systems, micro‑grid inverters, and vehicle‑to‑grid (V2G) systems. This role facilitates global market access through product and process legislation and removes technical barriers to innovative product technologies.

What You'll Do

Run test cases on Tesla energy products for grid interoperability compliance and collaborate with stakeholders to troubleshoot the EUT.

Set up test configuration hardware and firmware, post process test results, and submit results to certification bodies.

Propose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing and certification processes.

Create configuration files for each country/utility to meet grid compliance requirements.

Write Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing grid and V2G compliance requirements for design teams.

Support product registrations and permitting applications.

Consult and mentor engineering design teams.

Research new market entry requirements and represent Tesla on code and committee groups to aid in renewable code advancement.

Track codes, standards, and regulatory changes, working with NRTLs to achieve product compliance.

What You'll Bring

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.

Minimum 4 years of experience in power converter and/or energy storage systems compliance testing and/or certification.

Experienced in grid interoperability and V2G standards (e.g., UL 1741, UL 3141, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, EN 50549-1, EN 50549-2, G99, G100).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to navigate ambiguous standards.

Proven track record in power converter and/or energy storage system product certifications.

Highly experienced in global grid interoperability codes and standards, high voltage/power expertise.

Experience with environmental chamber, LabVIEW, Yokogawa, Dewetron, grid simulator, RLC load bank, and communication interfaces.
