Merck . We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled global category manager to join our Site Services Procurement team as an Associate Director.
Scope managed by the Site Services Procurement team includes the Integrated Facility Management (IFM) Program, all facility‑related services not under the IFM program, facility and infrastructure small projects, the MRO Integrator Program, production equipment maintenance and repair services, real estate services, and various commodities such as industrial gases, furniture, waste management and environmental services. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies and initiatives, and the relationship and performance management of strategic suppliers. You will work closely with our Company Manufacturing Division, Global Workplace & Enterprise Services (GWES) Organization, Global Capital and Direct Materials Procurement Organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute category strategies for Site Services commodities at global, regional, and local levels.
Lead cross‑functional teams through the Sourcing Management Process and drive competitive sourcing events.
Support and implement Supplier Relationship Management with key suppliers to maximize performance.
Drive cost savings, supplier diversity, and scope 3 emissions reduction through strategic sourcing.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Business, supply chain management, engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of working experience in procurement, supply chain, engineering or manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant procurement experience, with site services categories and category lead experience across multiple sites.
Proven track record of developing and implementing category strategies delivering cost savings and operational improvements.
Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and governance across stakeholders.
Project Management skills and experience, leading sourcing initiatives from initiation to implementation.
Effective communication skills and ability to build relationships across global teams.
Autonomous, self‑directed, and proactive problem‑solving.
Proficient in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
MBA or advanced degree.
Experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Hybrid Work Model Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office‑based positions will work a hybrid model of three on‑site days per week (Monday‑Thursday) with Friday as a remote day. This model does not apply to field‑based, manufacturing‑based, or research‑based positions, roles covered by collective bargaining agreements, or positions where remote work is not feasible.
Salary Range $126,500.00 - $199,100.00
