The Lowe’s Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe’s brand. As the Assistant General Counsel, you will strategically manage Legal Practice Groups within the Department and ensure that talent and resources deliver high‑quality legal and compliance services to the Company. You will oversee a functional legal team, delegate work assignments, provide legal consultation on enterprise‑wide and strategic initiatives, and influence senior executives to build alignment on the company’s strategic priorities. You will be a subject‑matter expert in at least one area of law or possess a mid‑level understanding of three or more areas of law or lines of business. What You Will Do

Counsels and interacts with executives and business segment managers, translating legal analysis and principles into practical business solutions. Establishes a rapport and working relationship with business managers to encourage the proactive use of in‑house legal counsel. Serves as a trusted advisor and business partner for senior executives on key enterprise‑wide strategic initiatives. Drives management and prioritization of multiple department projects and other legal concerns, ensuring a broad view of the company is taken into account for each deliverable. Provides expert legal proactive and business‑oriented consultation and solutions on enterprise‑wide and strategic initiatives. Manages and delegates work for a team of legal professionals, ensuring assignments are assigned, legal risks are identified, training is prepared, memorandums are delivered, and legal matter presentations are completed. Directs and evaluates associates’ career growth and performance, ensuring associates are supported and the team is engaged and delivering on all plans. Communicates with contacts inside and outside of the company representing and protecting the Lowe’s organization. Liaises with external legal counsel on complex legal issues. Establishes corporate counsel organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, aligning functional objectives with organizational objectives. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of an education requirement, if applicable. Juris Doctor degree from an ABA‑accredited school or equivalent years of experience in lieu of an education requirement, if applicable. 12–15 years practicing law in a law firm or in‑house legal department. 5 years of direct experience in commercial and consumer litigation or retail transactions, or a combination of experience in those two areas. 5 years working closely with senior leadership (VP and above). 3 years regulatory experience and resolving conflict and negotiating resolutions with federal, state, and local agencies. License to practice law in at least one state (or foreign jurisdiction, if lawyer is providing services to Company affiliates in that jurisdiction). Experience in legal leadership roles within relatively large corporate entities. Experience managing issues encountered by a multi‑national retailer. Leadership experience (Director and above) managing attorneys and professionals.
