Title: Spanish Linguist, Caribbean Dialect
Location: Boston, MA
Security Clearance: Public Trust
Schedule: As Needed Part‑Time Essential Services (day/night shifts, weekends/holidays)
Hourly: $28.73/hr

Job Summary The KACE Linguist transcribes real‑time, sensitive Spanish material into English, collecting, analyzing, decoding colloquialisms and slang, and communicating findings to law enforcement agents. Responsibilities include transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media (audiocassettes, videocassettes, digital media).
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions.
Relate all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contribute to a master‑list of slang words and codes used throughout a project/case.
Maintain a voice library for the project duration.
Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
Produce court‑ready transcriptions of calls, chats, and documents following required formats.
Use reference tools created during the project.
Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
Operate specialized software equipment (JSI voice box, Pen‑link, Comverse, other communication collection equipment).
Maintain a daily log of productivity.
Perform related duties as assigned, within scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ professional experience OR Associate degree with 5 years’ experience OR High School Diploma with 7 years’ experience.
At least 1 year of transcription experience in Spanish.
Subject to government background investigation; must meet eligibility for classified information.
U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
Knowledge of source‑language colloquial terms and expressions.
Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
Excellent verbal and written skills in Spanish (grammar, punctuation, spelling).
Score of 3 or better on a third‑party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English.
Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to prioritize, manage time, meet deadlines, and work in a team.
61‑word typing speed.
Clearance Applicants may be required to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance. Successful background investigation, medical, and drug screen are required. US Citizen or Permanent Resident with residency in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Mobility for meetings (standing, walking).
Climbing/Kneeling 0%–10% of the time.
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing 0%–10% of the time.
Writing, typing, and telephone use 100% of the time.
Sitting for extended periods during live or taped call monitoring.
