Overview Intuit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Core Tax Experience engineering team. This team is responsible for developing a user‑centric and tax‑compliant experience for TurboTax, Intuit’s flagship product. The Staff Software Engineer will play a crucial role in defining the future of tax compliance for millions of users. Responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of the TurboTax user interface and experience.

The primary objective is to create a fluid and intuitive tax filing experience, guiding users through tax preparation complexities while ensuring accuracy and adherence to all applicable tax regulations. This encompasses refining and optimizing existing workflows, as well as conceptualizing and developing innovative, next‑generation user experiences leveraging Generative AI capabilities. Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate user needs and business requirements into technical solutions.

Design and implement scalable, robust, and maintainable software components that integrate seamlessly with the broader TurboTax ecosystem.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in the areas of AI and machine learning, and identify opportunities to apply them to enhance the user experience.

Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow and develop their skills.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science or related area or equivalent experience.

7+ years of total experience delivering enterprise‑class applications.

Solid foundation in writing scalable application code following best practices of accessibility, internationalization, and instrumentation.

Experience with creating Gen AI powered applications.

Experience with cross‑browser, cross‑platform, and design constraints on the web and mobile.

Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.

Proficiency in UI languages like React and mid‑tier languages like Java.

Experience with test automation: TDD, unit/integration/functional testing.

Experience with relational database design and implementation.

Interest in building CI/CD pipelines.

Practical experience in developing applications using microservices, container technologies, and container management systems such as Kubernetes or Mesos.

Compensation Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay‑for‑performance rewards approach. This position will be eligible for cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits, in accordance with applicable plans and programs. Pay offered is based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay range for this position (Southern California) is $184,500–250,000.
