Job Overview A well‑established New Jersey business law firm with a comprehensive general corporate practice is seeking a senior‑level Corporate and Commercial Litigator with 10‑15 years of experience to join its team in Pennington, NJ. This firm serves a diverse client base across multiple business sectors, providing sophisticated legal counsel in employment law, franchising, commercial litigation, real estate, construction, intellectual property, tax, and business formation.
This role is ideal for an experienced commercial litigator who is ready to take on substantial responsibility, manage complex business disputes from inception through trial, and serve as a trusted advisor to corporate clients. Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in complex commercial and corporate litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, and corporate governance litigation
Develop and implement effective legal strategies tailored to client business objectives, balancing litigation risk with practical resolution paths
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on sophisticated commercial law issues, including UCC matters, business entity disputes, and contractual interpretation
Draft and review legal documents and pleadings, including complaints, answers, motions for summary judgment, discovery requests and responses, and appellate briefs
Manage all phases of litigation, from pre‑suit investigation and case assessment through discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and resolution
Take and defend depositions, conduct witness examinations, and present oral arguments before state and federal courts
Collaborate with cross‑functional team members across the firm’s practice areas (employment, real estate, IP, tax) to deliver integrated legal solutions for business clients
Serve as lead counsel on high‑stakes commercial disputes, exercising independent judgment and strategic decision‑making authority
Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted business advisor beyond litigation matters
Mentor junior associates and support staff, contributing to firm culture and professional development initiatives
Qualifications
Active license to practice law in New Jersey (required)
10–15 years of experience in commercial and corporate litigation, with a proven track record of successfully handling complex business disputes
Demonstrated corporate litigation experience, including familiarity with business entity structures, commercial contracts, and corporate governance matters
Strong case‑management and litigation strategy skills, with experience independently managing substantial caseloads
Proven trial experience or significant courtroom and motion practice experience (preferred)
Residence within 30 minutes of Princeton, NJ (Pennington, Princeton, Hopewell, Lawrenceville, Trenton, Montgomery, or surrounding Mercer County areas)
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Strong academic credentials and demonstrated commitment to professional excellence
Business development capability, with interest in building and maintaining client relationships
Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex business disputes and develop creative resolution strategies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive brief writing, oral advocacy, and client counseling
