Staff Product Engineer
About the role: Chime’s Banking Products team is on a mission to make Chime the top choice for everyday spending by building innovative, reliable, and member‑first financial tools. We focus on driving active spend and usage, increasing reliability and availability, and delivering seamless, trusted experiences across cards, credit, money movement, deals, and transaction intelligence. Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of high‑impact, member‑facing systems across multiple domains such as Cards, Credit Progress, and Money Movement.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to shape product direction and ensure technical feasibility and excellence.
Set the technical vision for critical systems with a forward‑looking, scalable approach that aligns with Chime’s goals and reliability standards.
Identify and solve systemic challenges related to performance, availability, and operational efficiency across the Banking Products stack.
Mentor senior engineers, elevate engineering practices, and drive consistency in quality, architecture, and code craftsmanship across teams.
Represent Chime externally through recruiting, open source, technical talks, or community engagement.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in software engineering.
Deep understanding of system design, service boundaries, and product‑engineering tradeoffs.
Ability to influence technical and product direction across teams and organizations.
Track record of driving measurable impact on business and engineering goals.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to lead through influence.
Experience working in a fast‑paced, product‑focused environment (Fintech experience is a plus).
Compensation Base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $198,990 and up to $281,900. Full‑time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
