Position Overview Praescient Analytics is seeking a
Data Engineer, Mid
to design, build, and optimize data pipelines and backend data systems supporting IRS Unified API services. This role plays a key part in integrating legacy systems with modern data platforms to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable data access.
This position requires U.S. citizenship.
The role will be hybrid with work locations in Washington, DC or Lanham, MD.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines across diverse data sources
Integrate data from legacy systems, modern databases, and data lakes
Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability
Support data orchestration, versioning, and CI/CD processes
Collaborate with application, analytics, and AI teams
Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance standards are met
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend data systems
Proficiency in SQL and Python or Scala
Experience with tools such as Apache Airflow, Spark, dbt, Kafka, Databricks, or Flink
Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and data lakes
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
US Citizenship and the ability to undergo an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with real-time or streaming data processing
Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance practices
Experience supporting analytics or machine learning teams
