is a full‑time 8‑hour day shift position (Mon‑Fri) primarily located at Mercy San Diego in Hillcrest with possible travel to Torrey Pines, Carmel Valley, and/or Rancho Bernardo. The role involves leading clinical pharmacy practice in specialty medication management, collaborating with physicians and staff to optimize treatment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting patient‑centered care across various therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

Assume clinical leadership responsibilities for pharmacy and practice in their specialization area.

Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to develop intervention strategies maximizing medication utilization.

Provide collaborative pharmaceutical care with specialized teams in identified patient‑care areas.

Review and evaluate individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost; document the care provided.

Establish methods to improve pharmaceutical care, meet departmental and system goals, coordinate utilization reviews and prospective drug‑use audits, and ensure collection of pertinent metrics.

Ensure regulatory compliance in area of specialization.

Precept students and residents as assigned.

Participate in quality assurance efforts for area of specialization.

Provide education, training, and competency sign‑off in area of specialization.

Participate in research & quality‑improvement initiatives and summarize findings to stakeholders.

Actively participate in multidisciplinary committees, providing clinical expertise and evidence‑based data to guide value‑based practices, develop standardized treatment regimens and protocols, and monitor QA/PI initiatives.

Required Education / Experience / Specialized Skills

BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree.

PGY1 and PGY2 residency in specialty or related specialty, or PGY1 and 2 years of practice in specialty or related specialty, or 5 years of experience in area of specialization.

Required Certification / Registration

California Pharmacist License.

AHA BLS for health‑care provider and ACLS certifications (required before responding to codes).

Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally accredited certification within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Education / Experience / Specialized Skills / Certification

Experience in a multi‑site health system pharmacy enterprise.

Teaching certificate and/or experience precepting students and residents.

Experience in ambulatory patient‑care management.

Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification in oncology or experience in ambulatory oncology pharmacy setting.

Experience in specialty pharmacy or oncology.

Experience in prior authorizations, processing and billing prescriptions.

Position Pay Range:

$82.50-$105.60 per hour
