A.

Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians, properly balanced with other academic activities. B.

Represent the Department of Sarcoma Medical Oncology in local, regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of sarcoma. May require traveling to sites outside of the Houston area and, upon return, disseminating the information obtained or learned by sharing with department colleagues verbally or in writing. C.

Provide thorough history and physical patient examinations; perform invasive procedures as dictated by the physician’s subspecialty. Must be capable of standing, bending, stooping, lifting, hearing, manual dexterity, and providing clear and concise verbal communication. D.

Develop and maintain a clinical practice for patients referred to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

a.

Provide physician staffing for inpatient and outpatient clinical services as requested by the Department Chair. b.

Visually review for proper ICD‑10 and CPT coding and approve all charge documents within five working days. c.

Complete patient documentation for medical records within time frames provided by institutional policy, including dictation and visual review. d.

Correspond in writing or by telephone with physicians regarding patient care and treatment. e.

Keep abreast of current approaches in patient management through attendance at continuing education conferences, listening to and assimilating information. f.

Request appropriate consultations by telephone or in writing to other physicians.

Serve as a role model as a practitioner and scientist for faculty, fellows, residents, and students. F.

Provide peer review for assessing the clinical and research practices of faculty within the department. G.

Effectively and collegially work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

Work within a context of intense interpersonal relationships including other physicians, patients, and subordinates.

Administration

Serve on departmental and institutional committees as requested, attending meetings which may include travel to each meeting site. Listen to deliberations and provide verbal feedback as necessary. Visually review all documents pertaining to committee functions. Research

Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the science and clinical practice and treatment of sarcomas. Develop translational research programs and scholarly activities aligned with departmental goals, synthesizing diverse information and instructing research support personnel in protocol implementation. Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research, completing grant application forms and developing budgets. Contribute to the literature by publishing original research in peer‑reviewed journals. Education/Teaching

Attend and participate in division/department teaching and continuing education conferences. Provide education and training research for fellows, residents, and students in the Department of Sarcoma Medical Oncology programs. Supervise clinical and laboratory research projects conducted by junior faculty, post‑doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students. Service

Represent the department in local, regional, state, and national matters, traveling outside Houston and disseminating information upon return. Extramural leave facilitates participation in outside activities that foster clinical research, access to new therapies, and highest quality patient care. Activities may include lecturing at other academic institutions, serving as an advisor, consultant, or expert to agencies or companies, in accordance with institutional conflict of interest policies. Target Base Salary:

$287,044 to $367,301. Eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable. Security & Infrastructure:

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and thereby may require routine reviews and screening to satisfy and maintain all necessary requirements.
