Overview
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Physician (Hospitalist) for the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The Hospitalist will provide direct medical care to Veterans with acute and complex medical and mental health needs, serve as a clinical supervisor and consultant to mid-level providers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
United States citizenship (if applicable)
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA-approved school
Full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth
Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification (or qualified as a Physician Resident Provider under VA authority)
Board‑certified or board‑eligible preferred
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Physical ability to lift 15-44 pounds, push, pull, and perform basic mobility tasks
Pass a drug‑testing program and random testing after appointment
Duties
Provide direct medical care to Veterans with acute and complex medical and mental health needs
Serve as a clinical supervisor and consultant to the four mid‑level medical providers on the IMH unit
Apply evidence‑based diagnostic methods and intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in this work setting
Collaborate with clinicians from other services as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team (psychiatrists, psychologists, PAs, APN, social work, peer specialist)
Inform Veterans of test and laboratory results, manage medications, and advise other providers
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; hours may be extended based on needs
