Incumbents establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, health care partners, and communities.

Job Description And Duties
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit S16, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 4.62 percent and will receive 8 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.
Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Under the clinical direction of the Regional Dental Director and the administrative direction of the Health Program Manager III, the Supervising Dentist (SD), Correctional Facility (CF) supervises and oversees the work of the Dentists, CF, and the Supervising Dental Assistant (SDA), CF within an institution. The SD, CF is responsible for ensuring clinical staff complies with the Inmate Dental Services Program (IDSP) Policies and Procedures (P&P), and State and federal regulations. The SD, CF also provides leadership, chart reviews, training, clinical instruction, and guidance to clinical staff within the dental clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an approved dental school.
I Experience: Two (2) years of professional dental experience in a California State Institution.
II Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the practice of dentistry including one (1) year of dental experience on the staff of a hospital or clinic or in the armed services.
