About Managed Care TTUHSC Managed Care has been providing clinical and operational support to correctional facilities in West Texas since 1989, serving approximately 30,000 patients.

Position Description Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures of inmate patients and employees injured as a result of TDCJ‑ID activities. Ensures appropriate dental care is accessible and provided to the inmate population in a timely fashion. Renders dental judgment on care provided to inmates assigned to the unit. Works under general direction of the Regional Dental Director, exercising initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions

Directly supervises 2‑4 dental hygienists in the unit dental services.

Provides chairside dental care, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; assists in appraising performance; encourages dental staff, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Manages clinic resource capacity, including personal time and that of supervised staff.

Travel may be required to perform chairside dentistry at other assigned units.

Required Qualifications

Current license to practice dentistry by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

Current Drug Enforcement Agency controlled substances registration certificate.
