Job Description Job Description Title: Licensed Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duration: 9 Weeks Location: 596 Sheldon Road, Saint Albans, VT 05478 Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM | 40 hours per week Position Summary Under the direction of the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Nursing Administration, the Licensed Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, efficient, and high-quality patient care in accordance with state regulations and certification standards. The CNA supports patient comfort, safety, and dignity by assisting with daily care needs, monitoring conditions, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care in a manner conducive to safety, comfort, and dignity. Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility. Obtain, record, and report vital signs, weights, and intake/output per policy. Support patient mobility through ambulation, transfers, and proper body positioning. Assist with rehabilitation sessions , ensuring patients are ready and transported to therapy as needed. Maintain infection control and safety protocols per facility and regulatory standards. Assist licensed nurses with treatments, procedures, and specimen collection as permitted by state regulations. Perform skin care, simple dressings, and adaptive equipment applications under RN direction. Provide nourishment and hydration support, documenting intake and reporting concerns. Respond promptly to call lights and assist with patient or family needs. Clean and restock patient rooms, utility areas, and nursing stations as assigned. Participate in care planning, quality improvement, and training programs . Communicate changes in patient condition or concerns to nursing staff promptly. Assist with patient discharges and postmortem care as directed. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, safety, and ethics policies . Remain flexible and stay beyond scheduled shifts if required to meet staffing or patient needs. Specimen Collection (If Applicable and State-Permitted) Collect nasal specimens for point-of-care (POC) testing per protocol. Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and infection control during collection. Use PPE appropriately, including respirator, gown, gloves, and face protection. Maintain specimen integrity and follow manufacturer and policy guidelines. Complete competency-based training and certification requirements for specimen collection. Qualifications Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. BLS certification and compliance with TST (tuberculin skin test) as required. Basic computer proficiency; experience with Point Click Care (PCC/POC) preferred. Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Must attend at least 12 hours of continuing education annually to maintain certification. Ability to wear N95/KN95 respirator and other PPE as required. Demonstrated commitment to patient care, teamwork, and infection control. Preferred Experience CNA Career Ladder participant or Med Tech/Med Aide (within scope). Experience as a Lab Technician or in specimen collection . Currently enrolled in nursing school or experienced in infection control rounds . Positive references from licensed nurses or supervisors.
