What You'll Do We’re looking for a Regional Director - Retirement Investments to provide concise and insightful investment analysis and market intelligence to new and existing retirement plan clients and advisors. Work to strengthen and reinforce Principal’s global investment management brand internally and externally leading to the successful placement of Principal-branded investments in retirement clients’ plan investment lineups. Lead a regional team of investment specialists and coordinate the efforts of the region.

Serve as the Subject Matter Expert by driving awareness, confidence, and understanding of the Principal Branded Investment Platform. Coordinate and execute field meetings and communications in each territory with the WSRS Sales team as well as customer care and advisor care teams. These interactions will consist of one-on-one meetings with financial advisors, existing and prospective Plan Sponsor meetings, Advisor and Client events, conference calls, and electronic communications. Act as the internal point of contact for the WSRS Sales and customer care and advisor care teams when they need investment platform resources. Ensure and provide a consistent Investment Platform message across all territories and audiences.

Build and maintain strong product knowledge of all investment strategies on the Principal Branded investment platform. This includes building strong relationships with the Investment Services, Due Diligence, and portfolio management teams across the entire organization. Leverage this product knowledge and expertise to acquire new assets in revenue-producting investment products and solutions.

Collaborate with WSRS Sales and customer care and advisor care leadership, Product Management, Marketing to develop and deliver creative, proactive ongoing investment initiatives to increase confidence and product knowledge of the investment platform (i.e. Key Asset classes, Products of Focus, Target Date Analyzer).

Stay current with competitive analysis to assist in acquiring new assets on the investment platform. Be available to help clarify and explain the investment process and performance of the Principal Branded investment options. Research is done using available software, industry publications and constant interaction with the investment professionals and key staff of Principals Due Diligence team.

Coordinate and lead the efforts of the regional team to assist with meeting team goals.

Who You Are

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

FINRA Licensing required: SIE, Series 7, and 63/65 or 66. Series 24 preferred, or must obtain within 120 days of hire.

Possession of or progress toward MBA, CIMA, CFA or other investment designation preferred.

Minimum 10 years of experience in investment management and/or corporate retirement plan marketplace.

Must have an understanding of investment management products and services across all asset classes.

Excellent communication skills are essential including verbal, written, interpersonal and strong presentation skills.

The role also requires an entrepreneurial spirit with a high-level of creativity, self-initiative, and problem-solving skills.

Travel and overnight stays required (approximately 30%-50% of the time).

Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $157000 - $213000 / year

Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments Because of significant travel, someone must reside within the Western U.S. territory with the option to work remote or hybrid. If there is a Principal office nearby, you could work hybrid from an office.
