Responsibilities Responsible for providing appropriate care for acute and chronic neurologic disease and disorders of the nervous system and conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. The Neurology NP is part of an interdisciplinary team of support staff to perform assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of the System, Hospital and Garnet Health Doctors, supporting our mission, vision and values to optimize the health and well‑being of our patients. The Neurology NP works both in‑patient hospital care and out‑patient clinic care and has competencies in behavioral neurology, multiple sclerosis, child neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders and neuroscience.

The Neurology Physician Assistant works both in‑patient hospital care and out‑patient clinic care and has competencies in behavioral neurology, multiple sclerosis, child neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders and neuroscience.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the Neurology Nurse Practitioner role is $128,713 through $146,909 annually. The range for the Neurology Physician Assistant role is $127,482 through $154,995 annually. The range or contractual rate listed may not include bonuses, incentive pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Qualifications Nurse Practitioner Minimum Education:

Masters in Nursing required with Neurology specialty training preferred.

Post‑Masters Certificate – Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Minimum Experience:

1 year of experience in Neurology care settings required.

Required Certification/Registration:

NYS Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges required.

DEA required.

BLS certification preferred and ACLS certification required.

ANCC Board Certification Advanced Practice required.

Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.

Current Infectious Certificate required.

Physical Requirements:

Travel to multiple facilities is required.

Working Conditions:

Environmental demands: Works primarily inside, may occasionally work outdoors, exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.

Physical demands: Demonstrates full anatomical range of motion, can lift and carry up to 40 lbs, push over 75 lbs, and bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.

Mental demands: Fosters collaborative relationships, works well under pressure, organizes and synthesizes new information, prioritizes tasks, demonstrates critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility, and maintains detailed attention in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.

Physician Assistant Minimum Education:

Graduate of an Accredited Physician’s Assistant Program.

Minimum Experience:

1 year of experience in Emergency Room or Neurology care settings preferred.

Required Certification/Registration:

Graduate of an Accredited Physician’s Assistant Program required.

Current Physician’s Assistant Licensure in New York State required.

Successful completion and maintenance of National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.

ANCC Board Certification Advanced Practice required.

Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.

Current Infectious Certificate required.
