Job Overview The
BI/Data Architect
will work as part of the CMM Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) team to deploy a secured cloud‑native EDW platform and support the statutory and operational reporting, data cataloging, and other analytical objectives.
This role ensures data is accurate, secure, governed, and optimized for decision‑making, while aligning technical solutions with business and judicial stakeholder needs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain the end‑to‑end BI and data architecture supporting EDW analytics, reporting, and dashboards, integrating data from CMM systems.
Define logical and physical data models, dimensional schemas, and data marts optimized for performance, usability, and scalability.
Evaluate, recommend, and guide implementation of modern BI tools, cloud data platforms, and analytics technologies (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, BI visualization tools).
Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices ensuring data accuracy, consistency, classification, and security.
Partner with business leaders, data engineers, analysts, and program leadership to translate business requirements into actionable technical designs and insights.
Drive continuous improvement of BI platforms through performance tuning, automation, metadata management, and advanced analytics (predictive and self‑service BI).
Support delivery of architecture design documents, governance artifacts, data lineage, and metadata catalog processes.
Deliver architecture design documents and reference architectures (end of sprint / ad hoc).
Develop and deliver workflow, requirements, and source‑to‑target mappings for EDW data pipelines.
Provide data governance summaries, decision logs, classification standards, and compliance processes periodically and as needed.
Provide metadata catalog ingestion processes, documentation, training, and job aids.
Performance Outcomes expected:
Scalable, governed BI architecture delivering trusted, actionable insights.
Reduced rework and faster analytics delivery through standardized models and clear governance.
Required Experience
8+ years of experience in data architecture, BI architecture, or analytics platforms.
Strong background in enterprise data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and BI systems.
Experience designing solutions in cloud‑based data ecosystems (AWS + Snowflake).
Proven ability to bridge business requirements and technical implementation.
Experience with data governance and metadata catalog platforms.
Prior support for federal or judiciary data environments.
Cloud Architect or Data Architecture certifications (preferred).
Tools & technologies: Snowflake, AWS, BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI, SAP BO, or similar), data modeling tools, metadata catalogs, SQL.
Qualifications
MA/MS degree with 10+ years of general experience in information systems.
8+ years of specialized experience.
Alternative experience equivalencies:
HS (16+ years)
AA/AS (14+ years)
BA/BS (12+ years)
Doctorate Degree/Ph.D. (9+ years)
Communication & Organizational Skills
Excellent presentation and communication (oral and written) skills.
Consultant mindset with the ability to work with high‑level customer stakeholders and build excellent customer relationships.
Experience identifying and applying industry tools, solutions, methods, best practices, and emerging technologies.
Strong analytical skills and problem‑solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, independently, and as part of a team.
Compensation The likely salary range for this position is $157,250 - $212,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
