POSITION POSITION SUMMARY The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive leader responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight of the organization's clinical units, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and staff engagement. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the COO serves as a strategic partner in executing the organization's mission, vision, and long-term growth objectives.
The COO provides leadership across hospice field operations (average daily census ~220), palliative care services (field-based), and the inpatient hospice house providing General Inpatient (GIP) level of care. This role is critical in aligning clinical excellence with operational efficiency in a complex, highly regulated healthcare environment.
QUALIFICATIONS Required
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, or related field.
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospice, palliative care, home health, or healthcare operations.
Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or multi-program operations.
Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, reimbursement, and compliance requirements.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and improve operational performance.
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.
Preferred
Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related field).
Licensed clinician (RN, LVN, or other healthcare license) strongly preferred.
Experience in non-profit healthcare organizations.
Prior experience overseeing an inpatient hospice or GIP level of care program
