Release Train Engineer (RTE)
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), responsible for facilitating ART processes and execution in a Microsoft Azure and .NET development environment. The RTE ensures alignment across multiple Agile teams, removes impediments, manages risks, and drives continuous improvement to deliver high-quality software solutions at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate ART Events: Organize and lead Program Increment (PI) Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
Coordinate Delivery: Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using Azure DevOps pipelines and .NET-based solutions.
Dependency Management: Identify and manage cross-team dependencies and risks, ensuring timely resolution.
Continuous Improvement: Collect metrics, analyze performance, and implement improvements for ART efficiency.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between Product Management, System Architects, and development teams.
Coach Teams: Promote Lean-Agile principles, SAFe practices, and DevOps culture across teams.
Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to organizational standards, security, and compliance within Azure cloud deployments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Background: Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Functions, DevOps, CI/CD) and .NET technologies.
Agile Expertise: Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or equivalent Agile certification (SPC, SASM, CSM).
Tools: Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and related CI/CD tools.
Leadership: Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and servant leadership skills.
Experience: 5+ years in Agile environments, with at least 2 years in a scaled Agile role (RTE, Program Manager, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cloud-native architecture and microservices using .NET Core.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in Azure.
Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks for cloud deployments.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
