Job Description Job Description HVAC Commercial Mechanic Experience Required: Minimum 5 years commercial HVAC service (large equipment) Coverage Area: Wilmington, DE → Allentown, PA Pay: $25.00 - $39.00/hr (DOE) Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM (occasional Saturdays) Type: Temp-to-Hire On-Call: ~3 times per year About the Role We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Mechanic with strong, hands-on expertise in large commercial and industrial mechanical systems . This position requires proven experience with large-tonnage chillers , not just small commercial or light industrial units. If most of your experience is with residential equipment or small split systems/rooftops, this role is not a fit. Candidates must be proficient with large chillers, cooling towers, hydronic systems, water-source heat pumps, commercial boilers, pumps, VAV/VRF systems, and building automation controls . Key Responsibilities Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial HVAC/mechanical systems following engineering specifications, blueprints, and wiring/piping diagrams. Work on major commercial equipment including: air- and water-cooled) Cooling towers and condenser water systems Water-source heat pumps and hydronic loop equipment Commercial RTUs and large-package units Split systems and air handlers Boilers, pumps, and heat exchangers VAV/VVT systems, VRF systems, and associated controls Building Automation Systems (BAS) Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak checks, and system testing. Conduct equipment start-ups, major repairs, component replacements, and overhauls. Document service work, readings, and equipment performance clearly and accurately. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on large mechanical systems. Participate in a limited on-call rotation (~3x/year). Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical school or HVAC certification preferred). Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC service experience working on large mechanical systems.
