Group tax director, US
role at
Bending Spoons .
At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build a company that serves a huge number of customers, fosters the growth of team members to their full potential, operates with unprecedented effectiveness and efficiency, and creates extraordinary value for shareholders—all while adhering to high ethical standards. We acquire digital businesses with untapped potential, leverage our platform—comprising expertise, technology, data, brand, talent, and culture—to make them successful, then reinvest the proceeds to further empower our platform and acquire new businesses. Our strategy blends a keen focus on capitalization with a hands‑on operator approach.
For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress at an exceptionally high rate. That’s our promise to such a candidate.
Responsibilities
Oversee international tax compliance and planning, including federal, state, and local income, franchise, and sales taxes, as well as transfer pricing.
Calculate tax liabilities, prepare and file returns, and manage the tax aspects of equity plans and contractor arrangements.
Ensure proper tax treatment of employee benefits and welfare programs.
Conduct tax due diligence for acquisitions and structure transactions efficiently.
Stay current on tax law changes, identify savings opportunities (e.g., R&D credits), and liaise with tax authorities and advisors.
What we look for
Reasoning ability . You solve complex problems with first principles thinking, structure ideas sharply, resist biases, and focus on critical details.
Drive . You are extremely ambitious, with initiative, effort, and tenacity that match your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work and hold yourself to a high—and rising—bar.
Team spirit . You give generously without expecting anything in return, support the best idea rather than your own, and are always ready to help your team. You’re reliable, honest, and transparent.
Proficiency in English . You read, write, and speak English fluently.
What we offer
Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams . Work in small, result‑oriented, autonomous teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
An exceptional opportunity for growth . We prioritize individuals of outstanding potential, positioning them in roles that let them thrive. Spooners in their 20s lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and with the right skills, you’ll soon play a key role in major projects.
All these benefits . Flexible hours, remote working, unlimited support for learning and training, top‑of‑the‑market health insurance, a rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We help each Spooner set up the conditions to do their best work.
Competitive pay and equity . For a candidate with considerable relevant experience, the annual salary ranges from $257,642 to $411,014 in the US. Compensation varies by location and impact and grows rapidly with experience. In high‑cost markets such as New York City and San Francisco, it sits toward the upper end of the range; in other markets, it may be lower. Exceptional capability may warrant compensation beyond the usual ranges.
Commitment & contract Permanent or fixed‑term. Full‑time.
Location Milan (Italy), London (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Madrid (Spain) or remote in selected countries.
Before you apply If you’ve applied before but didn’t receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.
Bending Spoons is a demanding environment. We’re extremely ambitious and hold ourselves—and one another—to a high standard. This fosters extraordinary learning, achievement, and career growth but also requires significant commitment. To help you ramp up quickly and set yourself up for success, we recommend spending the first few months working from our Milan office, regardless of your long‑term work location. It’s the best way to rapidly absorb our culture and build trust with your new teammates. We’ll support you with generous travel and accommodation assistance. Afterward, you’re welcome to work from the Milan or London offices, or remotely from approved countries—depending on what we agree on at the offer stage.
If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to give your best, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now—we can’t wait to meet you.
