Title: Senior Associate Director / Director of Cost Management
About The client is a leading Project and Cost Management consultancy known for delivering high-value, high-impact results across commercial real estate, corporate interiors, mission-critical, hospitality, education, and development projects. Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic Senior Associate Director or Director of Cost Management to take on a leadership role within our West Coast team. This individual will oversee the delivery of cost management services across a diverse portfolio of projects while driving team development, client relationships, and strategic growth for the region.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cost consultants and quantity surveyors.
Oversee resource planning, workload management, and staff performance.
Support recruitment and contribute to building a strong, collaborative regional team culture.
Cost Management Delivery
Lead cost planning, estimating, benchmarking, and cost reporting throughout all project phases.
Review and validate budgets, value engineering options, procurement strategies, and claims analyses.
Manage cost control processes, risk assessments, and change management.
Develop and maintain best practices, cost databases, and standards across the region.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, project teams, and external partners.
Lead presentations, cost workshops, and project review meetings.
Strengthen existing relationships while identifying new business opportunities within the West Coast market.
Business Development & Strategy
Support the growth strategy by contributing to proposals, pitches, and thought leadership initiatives.
Help expand the firm’s footprint in sectors such as corporate interiors, commercial development, hospitality, mission-critical, education, and institutional projects.
Collaborate with senior leadership to shape service offerings and regional strategic plans.
Required Experience & Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, or related fields (5+ years in a leadership or senior role).
Proven background in delivering cost management services for ground‑up construction, tenant improvements, and/or large complex projects.
Experience working within a consultancy environment.
Strong understanding of estimating methods, procurement processes, contract forms, and cost control tools.
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present complex cost data in a clear, client‑friendly manner.
Strong leadership, communication, and client‑facing capabilities.
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or similar field preferred.
Professional accreditation (RICS, AACE, PMP, MRICS, LEED, etc.) is an advantage.
