Job Summary: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non‑profit, bipartisan public policy organization that provides strategic insights and policy solutions to decision‑makers. The Economic Security & Technology Department (EST) focuses on trade policy, supply chain resilience, investment policy, international finance, commercial diplomacy, and economic statecraft.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop a robust research agenda on trade, investment, international finance, supply chain resilience, and new economic alliances to advance U.S. competitiveness and economic security.
Serve as a thought leader in Washington and provide strategic guidance for the Economics Program.
Lead research projects and contribute to economic analysis across the Department.
Help position the Economics Program to support EST’s strategic research priorities.
Lead and represent EST in Track 1.5 engagements with government and think‑tanks in partner countries.
Identify funding opportunities, develop robust research proposals, and cultivate a professional network.
Serve on the EST leadership team, mentor research assistants and analysts, and build a world‑class economics team.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience
10+ years of relevant experience and a master’s degree in a related field.
Senior‑level experience on economic policy issues in government or industry.
Demonstrated experience managing a policy research agenda; fundraising experience is a plus.
History of publishing in national and international media and academic journals.
Track record of building and maintaining relationships with policy stakeholders in the U.S. and abroad.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to identifying challenges and implementing solutions.
Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
