Base pay range $230,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your application within four months of appointment. Program approval—including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years)—is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship; non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a VA‑approved school.

Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Residency training completed in an ACGME or AOA accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. (Approved residencies include ACGME‑approved programs, AOA‑approved programs, or other residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice, as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.)

Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.

Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) may be appointed under interim or fee‑basis while completing residency training. PRPs must be fully licensed, may only perform supervised duties, and are not considered independent practitioners.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical requirements: sitting and standing (up to 2 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting (45 lb or over), reaching above shoulder, repeated bending.

The incumbent should be emotionally and mentally stable and capable of performing the duties of the position.

Duties

Provide inpatient and outpatient Endocrinology Medicine at the Manhattan VA Medical Center as part of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System.

Diagnose and treat endocrine disorders including diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders.

Conduct outpatient clinic visits, inpatient consultations, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers.

Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures related to endocrinology.

Educate patients on disease management, lifestyle changes, and preventive measures.

Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.

Engage in research activities and contribute to medical knowledge in endocrinology.

Maintain accurate and complete medical records in compliance with VA policies.
