Where you will work This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is based out of the MN‑Lakeville, MN‑Rochester, IL‑Bloomington, or WI‑Sun Prairie office locations.

Contributions This position reviews complex loan requests submitted to the Credit Compeer Home team, documents the appropriate level of analysis required to make a credit decision, issues the proper loan conditions, and communicates with lending officers and credit/financial officers to ensure the best interests of Compeer Financial and the consumer. Also reviews and provides decisions on servicing actions.

A typical day Home Mortgage Underwriting and Credit Analysis

Analyzes and provides quality, accurate credit decisions for complex loan packages across all three Compeer Home mortgage products (RuraLiving, Portfolio, Freddie Mac)

Reviews and documents loan conditions and transactions to ensure compliance and credit guidelines are met

Collaborates with Ag Lending to analyze complex farming operations with consumer loan requests

Leads larger complex loan requests, may be required to interact directly with borrower, partner, or outside parties

Reviews all documents needed for final approval

Utilizes Freddie Mac automated underwriting tools such as evaluating loans through Loan Product Advisor and appraisal through the Uniform Collateral Data Portal if applicable

Updates the Loan Origination System with all underwriting information

Maintains the underwriting spreadsheet

Serves as a resource for team members to assist with fielding questions

Verifies the property is acceptable collateral for the loan program

Reviews accuracy and opinion of market value on appraisals

Reviews comps to determine if they are comparable and adequate with required marketability comments

Verifies the property meets all program guidelines (adequate review and sales comparability)

Product Guidance

Provides product support (Freddie Mac, RuraLiving, or Portfolio) for the Credit Compeer Home team and all of Compeer Home

Reviews guidelines regularly and recommends changes to leadership and product experts

Answers loan questions submitted to the Credit Compeer Home team from Compeer Home, banks, and Farm Credit partners

Servicing Actions

Reviews submissions and determines if all required documentation is in the file

Determines if collateral can be released and if proceeds need to be applied to the loan

Determines if a co‑signer can be released of liability by reviewing documentation against loan guidelines

Documents servicing request and underwriting criteria used to approve or deny the request

Communicates decision with required conditions for approval

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, agribusiness or related field OR equivalent experience

Advanced level experience in consumer mortgage finance (underwriting, processing, operations, servicing, or lending)

In‑depth knowledge of consumer lending, underwriting practices, compliance, regulations, and loan programs

Strong accounting principles and credit administration

Knowledge of agricultural businesses, production practices, and credit standards used by Compeer

Ability to make sound credit decisions independently and efficiently

Negotiation skills and ability to propose creative financing solutions that drive portfolio growth while mitigating credit risk

Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate at all organizational levels

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer relationship management (CRM) programs

Valid driver’s license

May be required to travel and present, train, or interact with team members, bank partners, Farm Credit Associations, or at trade shows/conferences

Compensation and Benefits Base Pay

$82,400 – $124,500 USD

Eligible for variable compensation and other benefits. Pay range subject to change and may be modified in the future.
