About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Fusion Medical Staffing to find a qualified Labor/Delivery RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Washington, DC (20037). Agency: Fusion Medical Staffing
Pay: $2,273 to $2,418 per week
Shift: Nights – 3 days x 12 hours
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred Qualifications
AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
STABLE and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC)
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Essential Work Functions
Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examinations of patients
Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols
Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in English language reading, writing, and communication
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend
Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, move during procedures
Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with general public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, handle irregular activity schedules, continuous concentration on detail
Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
