Manager, Pilot Learning Experience
Delta Air Lines is seeking a Manager, Pilot Learning Experience to lead a team of Program Managers, Instructional Designers, and vendor partners. The role focuses on designing and delivering pilot technical and non‑technical learning solutions such as instructor‑led training, eLearning, and train‑the‑trainer programs.
How You'll Help Us Keep Climbing (Overview & Key Responsibilities)
The Manager oversees the development, distribution, and continuous improvement of all pilot learning content. Responsibilities include leading a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with safety and corporate requirements, and guiding the learning strategy for all non‑flight deck pilot curriculum. The role also partners with cross‑functional stakeholders—including Flight Standards, Training Planning, and corporate IT—to align learning initiatives with operational goals and industry trends. Develop engaging and interactive learning solutions using industry‑standard eLearning software. Apply advanced adult learning theories to create practical, application‑based training. Collaborate with SMEs and vendors to design blended learning experiences. Acquire and apply new technology skills to instructional design best practices. Partner with learning and business partners to ensure consistent learning experiences. Develop comprehensive measurement strategies to demonstrate business impact. Communicate effectively in visual, oral, and written form. Serve as a thought leader in instructional design and innovation. What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
7–10 years of people‑leader experience with high‑performance teams. Experience in both agile (SAM) and waterfall (ADDIE) design environments. Ability to apply generational and cultural considerations to adult learning strategies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional presence. Practical experience with Instructional Systems Design methodologies. Proven people‑leadership and coaching competencies. Flexibility, strong collaboration, and change‑management skills. Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office skills. Strong multitasking ability in a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to safety and security for self and others. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 18+ years of age with U.S. work authorization. What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Adult Learning, L&D, or related field. Professional certifications such as ACE, SAP, ATD CPLP/CPTD, or PMP. Strong project management background. Experience with aviation‑related learning content. Knowledge of Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, or LCMS. Experience with compliance training. Graphic design and visual communication skills. Understanding of LMS, CMS, and LCMS. Technical skills in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, XML, SCORM. Proficiency with Smartsheet, Visio, Project, Adobe Acrobat.
