Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S. Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Senior Content Manager to join our team in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, or Washington D.C. offices. We offer a hybrid work engagement with two days of remote work and three days in‑office.
The Senior Content Manager will be responsible for leading the writing, editing, and management of compelling content used in marketing collateral and thought leadership campaigns, the firm’s website, and other marketing initiatives. The position will partner with Marketing, Business Development, and Practice Management to produce clear, compliant, client‑facing content that supports business development and thought leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop an integrated content strategy aligned to firm priorities, including strategies to create new content and refresh existing content in support of the firm’s growth and brand elevation goals, and to profile the work and achievements of the firm’s attorneys.
Collaborate with practice groups, partners, and business development professionals on practice descriptions, website content, marketing collateral, proposals, presentations, lawyer bios, thought leadership, and event‑related content.
Collaborate with Business Development, Practice Management, Recruiting, and lawyers to translate legal expertise into compelling client‑ and market‑facing content.
Oversee editorial calendar planning across channels (web, client alerts, blogs, social, email, newsletters).
Manage end‑to‑end content production: briefing, interviewing subject matter experts, drafting, editing, approval routing, and publishing.
Lead content optimization efforts: SEO and GEO best practices for web content, metadata, headline testing, and analytics‑informed refinements.
Oversee content repurposing and syndication to maximize reach and lifetime value across channels and campaigns.
Maintain approval workflows with attention to compliance, QAC, and conflicts screening processes; maintain content frameworks, templates, style briefs, and editorial guidelines that support consistent tone, structure, and reuse across teams.
Advise and present to lawyers and business professionals across the firm on how to develop compelling content and how to use content to raise awareness and grow business.
Use content performance metrics (traffic, engagement, lead attribution, downloads, social amplification) to report impact and continuously improve strategy.
Mentor and develop junior content and social media specialists; contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
Stay up to date on content trends in the legal and professional services industries, advise on new strategies to improve the firm’s approach to content.
Qualifications
7+ years of professional content, editorial, or communications experience, ideally within professional services, law firms, B2B organizations, or news.
Law firm or other professional services experience strongly preferred.
Bachelor's Degree preferably in English, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing.
Demonstrated experience leading editorial strategy, content programs, or newsroom‑style operations with multiple stakeholders.
Outstanding writing and editing skills, with a strong command of tone, clarity, and succinctness.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to get consensus and collaboration from partners, business development teams, and senior leadership; ability to explain concepts quickly and easily; ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.
Knowledge and experience of the law firm business development process.
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage concurrent complex priorities and deadlines.
Working knowledge of digital content tools (CMS experience preferred), SEO / GEO fundamentals, email marketing platforms, and analytics.
Client‑first and team‑first attitude; responds promptly and effectively to internal and external client needs; understands sensitivity of client information.
A dual‑minded approach: highly creative and an excellent writer who can also be process‑driven, think at scale, and rely on data to make decisions.
Experience managing and mentoring a team.
