Description The Department of Surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook is seeking full-time faculty members to join the Divisions of Surgery. Applicants should have an academic focus with interest and commitment to clinical practice, medical education, and research. The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, including robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic skills, as well as an interest in surgical education. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who is interested in being part of a busy and growing practice in Suffolk County with privileges at multiple hospitals and several outpatient facilities.

Existing research funding is desirable, but not required. Academic rank will commensurate with experience. Qualified candidates are board eligible or board certified, fellow‑trained in colorectal surgery. The successful candidate will join a growing Colon and Rectal Division and, in addition to patient care, will have responsibilities including teaching residents and fellows, as well as clinical and/or basic science research. The successful candidate needs to have a current valid NYS license or be eligible for one.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Excellent clinical skills, including robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic techniques.

Board eligible or board certified, fellow‑trained in colorectal surgery.

Current valid NYS license or eligibility for one.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching residents and fellows.

Experience in clinical and/or basic science research.

Academic focus with interest and commitment to clinical practice, medical education, and research.

To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine.
