Team Lead, Mortgage Underwriting
Location: TX - Dallas/Irving
What You'll Do
Oversee daily underwriting operations, including pipeline management and escalations.
Work with cross‑functional teams (sales/originations, processing) to support underwriting decisions and improve processes.
Mentor and develop the underwriting team, contributing to training and performance.
Oversee a team of quality‑control underwriters performing quality checks and reviews to ensure loans purchased meet the Bank’s standards and guidelines, including re‑underwriting to validate income, debts, loan‑to‑value, and other data elements.
Manage third‑party vendors that perform underwriting and compliance reviews, ensuring quality and timelines are met and pipelines deliver on established SLAs.
Review and approve exception requests and scenarios, making decisions based on strong compensating factors and ensuring timely responses.
Review and approve customized guidelines submitted by customers, perform market analysis and comparisons, and present recommendations to senior managers and the sales team.
Provide process‑improvement recommendations that streamline operations and improve the customer experience.
Lead and develop the team; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training, and development.
What You'll Need
5+ years of related experience in Loan Administration or a similar field.
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products and services.
Intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, regulations, industry standards, and practices.
Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
