Position Overview The Director of Product Management will be responsible for overseeing programs/projects, with a primary focus on data center infrastructure product line. This role manages the full project lifecycle of a key account or multiple accounts that may include multiple programs/projects from inception through completion and acts as the customer advocate to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to budget. The Director of Product Management also plays a proactive role in identifying and resolving issues that may impact project performance, collaborating with other departments to address challenges and maintain project success.

Key Job Responsibilities

Work closely with the AVP and VP of Product Management to manage a key account(s).

Manage Product Managers / Program Managers and oversee execution of their assigned projects.

Provide guidance and input during the proposal process, refining project scope, schedule, and pre-award budgets, and manage the preliminary design process related to soliciting bids from installation contractors and suppliers.

Collaborate with internal teams and customers to negotiate project contracts, including pricing, margins, and terms and conditions.

Develop and lead overall program and project execution strategies in conjunction with the AVP/VP of Product Management.

Develop project plans, including division of responsibilities and other key project definition submittals required by the customer.

Organize customer interactions and manage pipeline development within the current client base.

Work closely with assigned Product Managers to determine cradle-to-grave project schedules.

Develop strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.

Quickly identify and resolve escalated project issues, including those requiring communication with senior-level personnel within TAS and customer organizations.

Coordinate internal resources needed for project execution (e.g., Materials Management, Document Control, QA/QC, Fabrication, Engineering, Aftermarket).

Conduct periodic project budget reviews and provide guidance to Project Managers in preparing ETC/EAC reports.

Manage and cultivate new customer relationships.

Lead Partner Business Reviews with clients.

Coordinate customer visits to TAS alongside the Product Manager. Serve as the primary point of contact for key customer stakeholders and act as the main escalation point.

Review and provide feedback on major TAS submissions, including proposals.

Identify and develop new business opportunities and product lines.

Develop strategic and commercial approaches to disputed or contentious issues and negotiate resolutions with customers.

Stay informed on significant technical, commercial, and customer-related issues across all programs.

Monitor financial status and risks across all programs.

Track new customer initiatives that may support future TAS product line development.

Ensure project execution aligns with customer expectations and remove barriers impacting the product teams.

Evaluate and support the implementation of beneficial customer requests.

Provide and review opportunity information, including sales forecasts, for senior management.

Drive continuous performance improvements across the organization.

Perform other tasks as assigned by TAS.

Job Skills

Experience managing project scope for data center construction projects, including development of project management plans, schedules, staffing plans, budgets (ETC/EACs), risk identification and mitigation, quality assurance, and management of customers, stakeholders, and vendors.

Exceptional communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.

Strong knowledge of business management principles, practices, and procedures, with excellent negotiation skills.

Ability to develop solutions to technical and commercial issues, set priorities effectively, and work independently.

Proven ability to build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Taking prompt action to accomplish objectives; taking action to achieve goals being proactive; generating innovative solutions in work situations.

Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

Familiarity with relevant industry standards, including NEC, ANSI, ASME, API, and OSHA.

Broad technical proficiency across HVAC principles, civil/structural/mechanical design, power wiring, controls architecture, and modular system design and manufacturing.

Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and database tools.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year engineering program

P.C. or PE, or PMP license/certification would be a plus

Minimum Requirements

10+ years of project execution experience serving as a key project team member (e.g., Applications Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Manager), preferably within modular data center infrastructure or power systems environments.

7+ years of project management experience in roles such as Project Manager, Program Manager, or Account Manager, overseeing projects from inception through completion, ideally within modular data center infrastructure or power systems environments.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
