Data Scientist (Associate)

Huron

Huron is a global consultancy that collaborates with clients to drive strategic growth, ignite innovation, and navigate constant change. We accelerate operational, digital, and cultural transformation for Fortune 500 companies. We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science & Machine Learning team within the Commercial Digital practice. In this role you will conduct advanced analytics and build predictive models that transform how clients in Financial Services, Manufacturing, Energy & Utilities, and other industries make decisions.

Unlike a reporting or dashboard role, you will own the full analytics lifecycle—from hypothesis formulation to insight delivery. You will design experimental designs that validate business strategies, build predictive models that uncover hidden patterns, and create analytical workflows that extract signal from unstructured text, images, and time‑series data.

What You'll Do

Design and execute end‑to‑end data science workflows, from problem framing and hypothesis development through exploratory analysis, modeling, validation, and insight delivery.

Develop traditional statistical and modern AI‑powered analyses, including regression, classification, clustering, causal inference, A/B testing, and deep learning with embeddings, transformer architectures, and foundation models for text, time‑series, and multimodal analysis.

Build predictive and prescriptive models that drive business decisions such as customer segmentation, churn prediction, demand forecasting, pricing optimization, risk scoring, and operational efficiency analysis.

Rapidly create interactive data stories and applications—delivering insights through compelling visualizations and user‑friendly interfaces.

Translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights, crafting data narratives, presentation‑ready deliverables, and communicating technical results to non‑technical stakeholders.

Collaborate directly with clients and senior team members to understand business problems, formulate analytical questions, and deliver measurable value.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of hands‑on experience conducting data science and advanced analytics projects that drove business decisions.

Strong Python and SQL programming skills, with deep experience in the data science ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit‑learn, statsmodels, visualization libraries).

Solid foundation in statistics and machine learning, including hypothesis testing, regression, classification, clustering, experimental design.

Experience with deep learning and modern neural architectures, particularly transformer models and foundation models for analytical tasks.

Proficiency with data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar cloud analytics environments.

Strong visualization and rapid data application development skills (Plotly, Altair, Cursor, Lovable, v0, or similar tools).

Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).

Willingness to travel approximately 30% to client sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Financial Services, Manufacturing, or Energy & Utilities industries.

Background in experimental design, A/B testing, and causal inference (propensity score matching, difference‑in‑differences, instrumental variables).

Hands‑on experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and neural architectures for NLP, time‑series, or tabular data.

Experience building AI‑assisted analytical workflows using foundation model APIs, vector databases, and retrieval systems.

Experience with Bayesian methods, probabilistic programming, or uncertainty quantification.

Experience with time‑series analysis and forecasting methods (ARIMA, Prophet, neural forecasting).

Cloud certifications such as Azure Data Scientist, Databricks ML Associate, or AWS ML Specialty.

Consulting experience or proven ability to work across multiple domains and adapt quickly.

Master’s degree or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative field.

Why Huron Variety that accelerates your growth.

In consulting, you will work across industries and analytical challenges that would take a decade to encounter at a single company.

Impact you can measure.

Our clients are Fortune 500 companies investing significantly in analytics and AI. The insights you generate inform real decisions—pricing strategies, customer segmentation, operational improvements, strategic investments.

A team that thinks deeply.

Our Data Science & Machine Learning team is a close‑knit group of practitioners, not just advisors. You will work alongside data scientists and engineers who prioritize correctness and clarity.

Investment in your development.

We provide resources for continuous learning, conference attendance, and certification. As our DSML practice grows, opportunities exist to take on technical leadership and advance to senior roles.
