Overview WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Construction Inspector for our Antioch, California office and will also consider candidates in San Francisco and San Jose. The role is part of the PMCM Team and contributes to meeting client objectives and solving challenges.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret project plans and specifications.

Monitor construction for compliance with project documents.

Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures.

Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Caltrans Standards).

Review, inspect, and approve traffic control systems, including lane closures, in accordance with Caltrans standards and requirements.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant post‑education experience in discipline with prior construction inspection experience.

Valid state driver’s license.

Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, processes, methods and techniques.

Grouting Inspector: American Segmental Bridge Institute (ASBI) Grouting Technician Certification.

Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.

Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non‑technical audience.

Sound self‑leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.

Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline.

Two (2) years of education equivalent to completion of a curriculum beyond the 12th grade in either (1) engineering (including courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher, drafting, computer science, and physics, chemistry, or a comparable physical science) or (2) surveying (including courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher, drafting, surveying, and computer science).

Essential professional licensure/certification.

Compensation Expected Salary: $65/hr - $85/hr, depending on experience level, location and other qualifications.

Employee's hourly rate may increase if/when they perform services that are covered by California's Prevailing Wage laws on public sector projects, or are covered by other applicable wage and hour laws.
