RF Test Engineer (Contract – to hire)
Sigma Design has collaborated with a drone technology company seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their facility in Seattle, WA. This company designs, builds, and deploys drones and supporting systems specifically for emergency-response agencies. This position is a contract to hire. This role is in-office.
While on contract you are eligible for:

Salary: $100,000 - $180,000 annually
Primary Function: The RF Test Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing test systems and procedures to validate the performance, reliability, and safety of RF subsystems used in advanced hardware products. This role supports both automated and manual testing efforts, partners closely with cross‑functional engineering teams, and drives product improvements through thorough testing, troubleshooting, and analysis.
Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities:
Design and develop RF test setups, fixtures, and hardware to support subsystem and system‑level validation
Define and execute test plans to evaluate RF performance and integration with broader system architectures
Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test scripts and supporting software tools
Troubleshoot RF and electrical hardware issues and perform root cause analysis
Conduct environmental and stress testing to validate durability and real‑world performance
Partner with hardware, firmware, and software teams to provide test feedback and support design improvements
Document test procedures, results, failures, and corrective actions in a clear and organized manner
Ensure test activities comply with applicable industry standards and safety requirements
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in RF testing, hardware validation, or related engineering roles.
Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers (VNAs), and radio communication test systems.
Experience developing automated tests using Python, LabVIEW, or similar programming tools.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills related to RF, electrical, and hardware systems.
Familiarity with wireless technologies such as LTE, GNSS, and WiFi.
Knowledge of RF compliance testing and regulatory considerations.
Exposure to antenna systems, PCB debugging, and hardware validation methodologies.
ITAR - Permanent resident of the United States (“U.S. person” as defined by ITAR).
Background - Pass a post‑offer background verification.
Work Environment Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
