Qualified Rate : $33.21 Per hour Please note that new hires in this role may be paid a lower hourly rate during their qualifying period. The Ore Dock Control Operator is responsible for performingassigned tasks in a safety-oriented environment. The incumbent operates mobileequipment, control consoles, and belt scales to monitor and control themovement of bulk materials through the dock and shiploader facilities.

Major Responsibilities
- Follow andmaintain safety practices and procedures
- Operate mobileequipment, including front-end loader, backhoes, skid steer, dozer, tractor,trapping machine, reclaimer, and other specialized equipment
- Inspect equipmentcondition before operating and report any issues
- Start and shutdown the belt system using approved operating procedures
- Recognizemalfunctions, avoid abuse, damage, and excessive wear of equipment and systemsoperated
- Clean thefacility using equipment and hand tools, including shovels, bars, rods, heatingtorches, and jackhammers
- Complete reportsconcerning duties performed, malfunctions, tonnage, safety issues and otherinformation as required
- Respond to eventsand incidents proficiently while liaising with Management, staff, agencies, andemergency services
- Maintain workschedule according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which includesirregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
- The role isrequired to wear proper safety attire
- Will often bend,stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, push, and pull to clean pellets and other materialfrom mobile equipment, conveyors, and various structures
- Frequently useshands for operating control equipment of machinery and control panelpushbuttons for operation of ship loader conveyor system and mobile equipment
- Use of feet inrepetitive movement of foot controls on various pieces of mobile equipment
- The role isperformed in an outdoor environment in various types of weather conditions
- Perform work nearwater, moving conveyors and equipment, vehicles, and rolling stock,occasionally elevated at heights with proper fall protection
- High SchoolDiploma or General Education Development (GED)
- Must passpre-employment tests
- Valid Driver'sLicense
- Leads by examplefor the safety and security of all
- Knowledge ofrules in CN and regulatory agencies
- Knowledge ofequipment operation principles
- Communicates withimpact
- Must be alert inareas near water, machinery, and moving equipment
- Must haveeye-hand coordination and ability to use certain common and specialized handtools
