YOUR MISSION We are seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to develop and integrate advanced aerospace and defense systems. The role involves defining, analyzing, and ensuring the successful implementation of mission requirements across complex aerospace platforms, including designing and optimizing spacecraft trajectories for rendezvous, docking, and proximity missions. This position supports national defense initiatives and advances autonomous space operations, working closely with cross-functional teams for both manned and unmanned platforms in defense, space, and intelligence sectors.

Responsibilities

Mission Design & Requirements Analysis:

Collaborate with stakeholders to define mission objectives, system requirements, and operational concepts.

Translate needs into engineering solutions, ensuring alignment with constraints.

Lead system trade studies, performance evaluations, and feasibility assessments.

Design, simulate, and analyze RPO mission trajectories.

Optimize spacecraft maneuvers considering fuel, timing, and risks.

Prepare technical reports and documentation for stakeholders.

Support proposal development and new mission opportunities.

System Integration & Verification:

Oversee system integration, ensuring seamless hardware, software, and operational interaction.

Develop integration and verification plans, conducting end-to-end testing.

Coordinate troubleshooting and resolve integration challenges.

Support mission operations during testing and execution.

Modeling, Simulation & Analysis:

Develop and maintain high-fidelity models of spacecraft motion and environment.

Use tools like STK, GMAT, MATLAB, and FreeFlyer for simulations.

Run Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate mission robustness.

Analyze system performance, reliability, safety, and mission effectiveness.

Conduct trajectory reconstruction and anomaly investigations.

Risk Assessment & Mitigation:

Identify and analyze mission risks, including collision and operational uncertainties.

Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).

At least 3 years of experience in mission analysis, space operations, or orbital mechanics.

Expertise in RPO mission design and spacecraft operations.

Experience with tools like STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT, or similar.

Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics and autonomous space operations.

Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++.

Experience with mission planning and support.

Must hold or be able to obtain TS/SCI or TS/SAP security clearance.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience in defense or classified space missions.

Familiarity with DoD and NASA standards.

Experience working with government agencies and contractors.

Compensation

Salary Range: $115,000 - $145,000

Benefits include health, dental, vision, HRA/HSA, PTO, holidays, 401K, parental leave.

Salary will be determined based on experience and skills. Additional Requirements

Location near Denver or Colorado Springs, hybrid work environment with some on-site work.

Physical and work environment considerations.
