TITLE: Senior Project Engineer
DUTIES: We seek a Senior Project Engineer based out of our office at 4554 Glenmeade Lane, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this position does not require travel.
Specializing in powertrain calibration and development, focus on base engine and OBD calibration and validation activities in engine dyno and in vehicle; Conduct vehicle and/or engine testing; Verify data collected for quality and then post-processed and analyzed in support of achieving overall project goals; Lead the creation and calibration of base engine controls, aftertreatment controls, hybrid controls, and on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems; Conduct general powertrain development work and testing, as well as, validation and certification activities performed on-road, on chassis, and engine dynos; Frequently create technical and project status presentations and present them to program manager or supervisors at FEV as well as to FEV customers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related degree; and 36 months of experience in job offered or related engine / hybrid powertrain and sub-system calibration or testing engineer.
Required experience must include: Experience with CARB and EPA regulations; Experience applying the fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines; Experience with CI and SI combustion processes; Experience developing diesel aftertreatment systems; Experience using commercially available calibration and development tools; Experience gathering data and running testing on engine dyno, in-vehicle, and on chassis dyno; Experience interpreting emissions results and assessing the impacts of proposed base calibration changes to emissions performance; Experience applying the OBD calibration process to create and execute test plans that define OBD threshold parts and to evaluate the robustness of an OBD monitor to various noise factors; Experience digesting and interpreting engine and aftertreatment control algorithms; Experience creating experiments to validate new controls functionality.
