Position Purpose The Healthcare Specialist is responsible for providing strategic guidance toward the compliant, safe and efficient handling and processing of all Waste Streams contracted by the facility(s). Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle consistently meet service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and are provided in a productive and profitable manner.
Key Job Activities
Monitors the performance of operational efficiencies and assists in ensuring cost goals are achieved by utilizing cost tracking tools and reviewing invoices.
Provides strategic consultative resources to hospital staff to assist in managing all contracted waste streams in a safe and compliant manner; serves as the primary liaison.
Provides expert knowledge on regulations associated with waste streams (EPA, DOT, DEA, and state/local regulations).
Conducts surveys for customers identifying compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities using the Virtual Compliance Partner application.
Project manages implementation of new compliance-based services, coordinates schedules, and communicates expectations to internal and external customers; develops and delivers customized training.
Regularly schedules and completes customer‑facing activity focused on service satisfaction, building relationships, and improving operational efficiencies and profitability.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience in healthcare discipline or equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating detailed knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA‑RCRA and/or DOT and/or The Joint Commission Standards.
3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry or equivalent, demonstrating excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues, consultative skills, and confidence with public speaking duties.
Demonstrates the ability to work well with others and provide excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
Demonstrates ability to identify and understand customer needs and take appropriate actions to meet those needs while meeting Stericycle expectations.
Demonstrates ability to present ideas/information in a clear, concise, organized, and diplomatic manner; asks appropriate questions, listens to others, and responds effectively.
Always demonstrates a professional work ethic and professional appearance.
Independent, self‑motivated who can meet goals and objectives outlined by senior team; demonstrates time management skills in an autonomous environment.
