Position Summary The Engineering and Process Manager – RF & Microwave is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for driving engineering excellence across coax cable assemblies, RF/microwave connectors, and custom interconnect solutions. Based at our Santa Rosa, CA facility, you will support multidisciplinary engineering requirements in a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment serving the fast‑paced Aerospace, Defense, and Telecommunications markets. This role provides overall technical leadership including product, process engineering, manufacturing, test and applications engineering. You will oversee the site’s New Product Introduction (NPI), drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), support customer‑facing technical engagements, and provide direct engineering support to manufacturing. Acting as the technical cornerstone of the site, you will collaborate daily with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and Customer Service to ensure we deliver innovative, high‑performance products optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and speed‑to‑market. This position reports to the Division’s Director of Engineering and oversees assembly processes, engineering and application activities while driving continuous improvement in product quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing manufacturing support team, establishing clear goals, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Drive technical strategy, identify new technologies, tools and process improvements to maintain a competitive advantage in RF/ Microwave interconnect.
Establish, track and communicate key processes and engineering KPIs (NPI on‑time delivery, quote turnaround time, ECO cycle time, etc.).
Serve as the subject matter expert for RF/microwave coax assemblies, precision connectors, cable processes and high‑frequency performance considerations (VSWR, return loss, shielding effectiveness, insertion loss, etc.).
Develop and optimise manufacturing processes including cable prep, soldering, crimping, brazing, potting, torquing, and high‑frequency testing.
Create, review, and maintain all engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, work instructions, BOMs, and routings within the applicable ERP system.
Ensure adherence to MIL‑DLT specifications, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, AS9100 requirements, and customer workmanship expectations.
Lead the technical portion of the NPI process, including design reviews, prototype development, material selection, test strategy and manufacturability validation.
Drive DFM/DFX activities to reduce complexity, improve yields and lower cost.
Partner with Operations to implement robust processes that support repeatability, quality and scalability.
Identify, research and implement tools, fixtures and equipment for key processes.
Act as a technical liaison to customers, providing application support, product recommendations, troubleshooting guidance, and technical presentations.
Support Sales with engineering inputs for proposals, including labor estimates, material selections, testing requirements and cost drivers.
Participate in customer meetings, audits and design reviews; translate customer needs into manufacturable solutions.
Provide real‑time technical support to the production floor to minimise downtime and ensure schedule adherence.
Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for internal CARs and external RMAs, implementing permanent, data‑driven solutions.
Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve complex engineering and manufacturing challenges.
Troubleshoot, analyse and implement corrections to non‑conforming tests and inspection of products and processes.
Ensure all designs and processes meet applicable industry standards (MIL‑DLT, UL) and regulatory requirements (ITAR, REACH, RoHS).
Maintain configuration control and ensure engineering documentation is accurate and up to date.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
5–7 years of progressive engineering experience in an electro‑mechanical manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership or management.
Strong experience in cable assemblies, RF/microwave connectors, interconnect systems or wire harness manufacturing.
Expertise in high‑mix, low‑volume aerospace/defence environments (AS9100, ISO9001).
Deep understanding of RF/microwave principles, materials, connector design, soldering/crimp processes, shielding and high‑frequency testing.
Hands‑on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and ERP/MRP systems for BOM and routing control.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers, sales teams and non‑technical stakeholders.
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR compliance required).

Pay Transparency Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 per year, plus incentive compensation.
