Senior Manager Solution Architect (AWS, AI) – Card Partnerships, Card Tech.
Role Overview
Capital One is hiring a skilled Solutions Architect to join a talented technologist team in the Card Partnerships segment of Card Tech. The team designs, engineers, and manages technology solutions for Capital One’s domestic Credit Card business, powering a portfolio of systems used daily by millions of customers. The senior manager will provide technical leadership for designing and implementing critical solutions across Card Platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead solutions architecture design for multi‑platform/cross‑platform solutions.
Lead trade‑off and impact analysis work for hard‑to‑change technical decisions, managing technical conflicts.
Demonstrate thought leadership and strategy in partnership with delivery and product partners.
Represent solutions in Architecture Review Boards and various product, platform and architecture discussions.
Present work products and strategies to product managers and technology leadership across Capital One.
Act as primary architecture point of contact for other architecture and delivery teams.
Continuously learn as technology needs evolve.

Proven mastery of facilitation and influence across teams, departments, and divisions.
Experience leading and enabling technology, architecture, and software engineering activities at enterprise scale.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 6 years of experience in Software Engineering
At least 3 years of experience as a Solution Architect across multiple domains
At least 3 years of experience in Data Architecture
At least 2 years of experience creating solutions architectures in AWS
At least 2 years of experience creating proofs‑of‑concept
At least 1 year of experience implementing AI or AI‑enabled solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology
10+ years of experience in Software Engineering
5+ years as a Solutions Architect in large or complex organizations
8+ years architecting, designing, and delivering scalable, decoupled systems in a heavily regulated environment
Experience working with internal and external business clients
Experience with AWS concepts and implementations
Experience mentoring software engineers or architects
Experience in HIPAA, PCI, Privacy, or other regulated environments
Relevant AWS or equivalent certifications (Solution Architect‑Associate/Professional, GCP, Azure)
Salary & Benefits
McLean, VA: $225,400 – $257,200. Richmond, VA: $204,900 – $233,800 (full‑time annual salary range).
Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and long‑term incentives.
